Parental Knowledge Regarding Dental Radiography of Children Attending Dental Clinics in Ilam, Iran

Background: Radiological examinations expose the patient to adverse effects of ionizing radiation, which is more severe among developing children. This can cause excessive and unreasonable fear anxiety for parents even disrupt treatment process. study aimed evaluate parents’ knowledge about dental radiographs children referred dentistry, assess relevant factors. Methods: The present a cross-sectional analytical examining clinics from October 2019 April 2020. required information included demographic information, nine statements assessing level knowledge. One-way analysis variance (ANOVA), independent t-test, linear regression were used analyze data. Ward’s cluster method with squared Euclidean distance was adopted include background variables. Results: A total 108 Ilam – including 69 females (68.3%) 32 males (31.7%) in 24-51 age range, participated this study. Among studied variables, educational attainment had highly significant influence (P<0.01) on their pediatric radiography. Furthermore, holding bachelor’s degrees or higher an average score 5.35 heightened awareness radiography than those other groups. Conclusions: Examining parental radiographic revealed differences three groups favor achievement. In general, biographical namely age, gender, household size found be less influential. Therefore, dentists should learn provide them accordingly. Due relatively poor children’s radiographs, it recommended that plans developed raising issue order reducing fears may create burden procedures.
